Codes that never expire
Every code this site produces is a static QR code: the data is encoded directly into the image itself. There is no redirect through our servers, which means there is nothing we could switch off, paywall, or let expire — the code keeps working even if this site disappears. Services that offer "dynamic" codes route every scan through their own domain, which is precisely what lets them disable your code when a trial ends. Read the full comparison on the about page.
The optional free account changes none of this. Saving a code just stores a copy so you can re-download it later — the printed code itself never depends on us.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free? Where is the catch?
Free, no watermark, no sign-up wall, and downloads are not gated. Static QR codes are just text in a standard format — charging to generate one is the catch elsewhere, not here. The site may show clearly-labeled advertising in the future to cover hosting.
Does my WiFi password or contact data get uploaded?
No. The code is drawn by JavaScript running on your device; the page makes no network request with your input. You can generate codes with the network cable unplugged once the page has loaded. Only if you explicitly click "Save to my account" is that one code stored — and the generator warns you first when the content is sensitive.
Will my code stop working after 14 days?
No. That behavior comes from dynamic-code services that route scans through their servers. The codes generated here contain your data directly and work forever.
PNG or SVG — which should I download?
PNG for pasting into documents, chats, and slides (pick the largest size for print). SVG for designers and print shops: it is a vector file that scales to a poster without pixelation.
How big should I print a QR code?
At least 2 × 2 cm for arm's-length scanning. For posters, a rule of thumb is one tenth of the farthest expected scan distance — a code scanned from 3 m should be about 30 cm wide. Keep the white quiet zone around the code; it is part of the symbol.
Test before you print: a QR code cannot verify that a password is correct or a link is safe — always scan a new code with a real device before printing or distributing it. How each generator is built, tested, and verified is documented on the methodology page.
